Heike Yates has been working with women and their bodies for forty years. She’s seen every trend come and go, but her approach is so much deeper than just fitness.

We talked about how midlife isn't this scary "crisis" we’ve been told to fear. Instead, it’s actually this incredible course correction. It’s that moment where we finally get to stop dimming our light and start asking ourselves what we actually need to feel good.

She was so vulnerable about her own journey too.

Heike shared what it was like to go from being a competitive bodybuilder and Ironman triathlete to having to give up running because of her health. We really leaned into the messy, human side of that transition - the grieving process of losing an identity and the choice to find a new way to move that honors the body you have today.

We also touched on something I know so many of us feel: that heavy "stuckness" even when we think we’re doing everything right.

Heike explains why we need to stop chasing arbitrary goals or five-pound weight loss targets and start focusing on quality of life and intuition.

It’s such a permission slip to just sit still, be real with ourselves, and maybe even pick up a colouring book if that’s what helps our minds finally go quiet.

I left this talk feeling so much lighter, and I know you will too. It’s a gentle reminder that you aren't behind, you aren't broken, and your best moves are the ones you choose for yourself.

Thank you for spending time with me today on the Thrive After 45™ podcast! If this episode spoke to you, be sure to hit that follow button so you never miss one.

November 2026, I will be hosting a live, in-person experience called IGNITE: The Inner Uprising™.

It is a two-day immersive gathering for 1,200 women in midlife — women who feel the quiet pull toward something more truthful, more embodied, more fully their own.

IGNITE is an extension of these conversations.

It’s where reflection becomes embodiment.

Where insight becomes integration.

Where women who have held so much for others gather to stand fully in their own sovereignty.

If something in today’s conversation stirred you — if your body leaned in — that is NOT accidental.

The waitlist is now open.

If IGNITE feels like something your future self would thank you for, I invite you to add your name here.
